Educating, Equipping, and Encouraging Children for This Life and Eternity

King of Kings Lutheran School offers classes in kindergarten through eighth grade in a unique, multi-grade format. Except for kindergarten, teachers teach either two or three grades per classroom. Grades one and two, three to five, and six to eight are taught by the same teacher. This format gives the students leadership and learning reinforcement, as well as advancement opportunities not found in the traditional “single-grade per teacher” format. With multi-grade classrooms, the younger students hear and absorb the lessons of the grade above while the older students’ knowledge is reinforced during the lessons of the grade below. In addition, the older students have the opportunity to grow as leaders as they mentor and tutor the students in the grade(s) below.

Our Classrooms

At King of Kings Lutheran School, we offer a unique multi-grade classroom structure that benefits our students immensely. A multi-grade classroom is a natural extension of life in the real world and home life. Our students are developing social skills and learning as they interact with classmates of different ages and abilities.

Since our teachers are with students for two or more years, they develop a deeper understanding of each child’s individual learning style and needs. With this knowledge, our teachers are able to adapt lessons to the distinct needs of our students.

Below are two great videos that help further explain our multi-grade structure. The first video gives you an idea of a typical day in a multi-grade classroom setting. The second video explains benefits of this learning environment.

What Is a Multi-Grade Classroom?

Mrs. Nancy Sanchez

School Telephone: 714-530-2152

I have the privilege of teaching kindergarten here at King of Kings Lutheran School. I hold a dual degree from Long Beach State University in Child Psychology and Health Education, and I completed a five-year program in doctrinal studies from Martin Luther College in Minnesota. I have also completed many courses in Early Childhood and Special Education. I am constantly striving to update my education and my curriculum.

I have been teaching God’s precious lambs at King of Kings Lutheran School for 19 years. These have been rewarding years full of joys, hugs, and laughter. One of life’s greatest rewards is seeing my former students grow into strong Christian adults, thanks to the foundation of a solid Christian education that they have received here at King of Kings Lutheran School. Some of these former students include my own four daughters who are former students at King of Kings Lutheran School. It warms my heart to see that the family of friends they made at King of Kings Lutheran School is still active in their lives today.

My passion is teaching, so I am active in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and volunteering at Good Shepherd Bible Camp during the summer months.

God has truly blessed King of Kings Lutheran School with a strong academic program based upon His Word. I am a member of a loving, talented staff that cares about the students and their families. We strive to prepare the children for the present, for the future, and for eternity. To God be the glory.

Prior to King of Kings Lutheran School, Peter Buege was the principal and upper-grade teacher at Zion Lutheran School in Torrance, CA. His first year of teaching was spent in Burnsville, MN, where he taught grades five to six and coached boys’ basketball. He is currently teaching grades three to five and serves as our school principal.

Peter grew up with his one sister and three brothers in Stevensville, MI and attended St. Paul’s Lutheran, where his dad was the principal. He continued his education at Michigan Lutheran High School in St. Joseph, MI, where he enjoyed playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. He spent the rest of his time playing trombone in the school bands and singing in the traveling choir. He then went on to Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, to get his B.S. in education with an emphasis in history.

In July of 2002, he married his wife, Kris. They enjoy spending time with their three children.

When he’s not busy at school, you can find Peter working in his yard or the garden. He also enjoys reading, watching football, traveling, drinking coffee, and grilling.

Kris Buege

Release Time Teacher: Grades 3–5
Ever since she was a young child growing up in Michigan, Kris Buege knew that she wanted to be a teacher and a mother. After she graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1994, one of her dreams came true. She became the third- to fifth-grade teacher at King of Kings. She taught these grades for nine years.

Kris then moved to the first- to second-grade classroom, where she taught for three years. After helping raise other people’s children for 12 years, she was blessed by God with three children of her own! She has enjoyed staying at home with them in the past 11 years. During that time, Kris continued to work with families and children. She taught art lessons, subbed, started a Discover Toys home business, taught Sunday School, led a Parent and Me program, and began screening and tutoring people with dyslexia. Kris is excited to be back in the classroom again this year!
